There are many reasons that make me go to France every year. Half of them are related to my origins there but none of them are related to metal festivals :D

HEy people...do you know any "better known" band that would be willing to come to a festival if I only payed them the trip...I was talking to in battle when they were here and they said they would come to a festival my friends and I organise, so I'm searching for another such a friendly band...any ideas?!

Went nine times to Wacken (99-07) and probably will go there no more...:-) The bands are repeating every two years and the fest is too huge (70 000 visitors...). On the other hand, it is well organised. Who did never visit, I can sincerelly suggest to see it almost once in a life :-)

Was also cca five times on Summer Breeze. Was good, because they do not invite too much power metal (a miracle in German festivals :-) But also the same problem as in Wacken - the line-up is every year very similar and after some highlighting years (Opeth, Orphaned Land, Vintersorg, Hollenthon...) it has a decreasing tendency. The new area in Dinkelsbühl is also fine (although Abtsgmünd was Abstgmünd), but last year there were some serious problems with organisation, mainly regarding the arrival of fans. Fortunately I did miss and I will probably miss again :-)

What can I suggest for all AGM freaks is Brutal Assault here in Czech republic, it seriously became a real AGM fest. Look the 2007 line-up:
Cynic, Madder Mortem, DHG, Red Harvest, Enslaved, Misanthrope, Dagoba, Le Scrawl, Hacride, Sear Bliss, To-Mera, Katatonia, Satyricon, Suffocation, Keep Of Kalessin and many others...:-)
Would be also a typical place to gather the AGM crew :-) In addition, as a bonus, the festival place is a baroque military fortress, look here:

Well, as gathered impressions from my visits to Wacken... they listen to Iced Earth and Böhse Onkels, have no understanding whatsoever that not everyone at an international festival understand German (even though my native Swedish is a linguistic cousin to German), they are fat and drunk and loud, in a particular way that differs from other nationalities, in some weird way. You, just like the Danes (whom Swedes have even more historical beef with and are to me the same people), live on sausages and beer, and love accordions.

No offence what so ever, these are of course only ironic prejudices, and as well prejudices towards drunk metalheads at a festival - the stupidity is inherited regardless of your nationality. And I am not too fond of drinking on foreign ground where I cannot comprehend the language nor the social system (what's up with selling alcohol in a food-store?).

Strange, because that´s the way I perceived swedish people in Wacken 2002  and believe me, I´ve met a hella lot then, we seem to have ended up in the swedish quarters. No, really. By the way, do you know of a guy called "beismannen" or "scheismannen" or something? He seems to be some kind of swedish urban legend.

Hm, must be a festival phenomenon ascribed to nationalities then=)
Yep, Bajsmannen. The Shitman. A guy who in the 90's travelled to Scandinavian festivals and covered himself in poo and stuff. Heard he was real, heard he wasn't. He seems to have disappeared, though.

He IS real! Hear my story:

Once upon a time a friend of me was anxoius to show me a video he filmed, where some swedish guy with dreadlocks drank the piss of another one while nearly gagging on the guy´s cock. That was in Wacken, maybe 2000, at 5 o´clock in the morning. I didn´t believe him until he showed me the video...
Wacken 2002 we sat there with guys from Thyrfing, to whom we told that story. They told us he was called "Bajsmannen" (due to my description of him) but that he may not even exist. So we made a little game up to pass time: everytime a guy stumbled across our little tent-gathering we asked the following questions: "Are you swedish?" and on positive response: "do you know "Bajsmannen"? And EVERYONE had heard of him, one had even found one of his infamous crap-heaps in his tent. But no one had actually met him.
Back in Hamburg on a Marduk-concert, where I attended with aforementioned friend (with the video), we saw a swedish speaking guy who actually looked like the one on the video... My friend went over, asking him: "Hey, are you the guy who drank piss in Wacken? Are you Bajsmannen?" And not only the guy responded positive, he actually was HAPPY to be recognized by that! Sick...

So, YES, he exists, I have met him... But I didn´t shake his hand.

That´s the sort of story only a guy from Hamburg can tell.

Hey aVoid, what did you expect? You are at a metal festival, metalheads are loud, fat, drunken and dirty baffoons. Welcome to this strange and sometimes disgusting thing we call reality :D

Cca 150 km, direction east-east-north (the nearest big city is Hradec Kralove).
Are you "trapped" after reading the line-up of the last year? :-)

Still convinced that it is the ideal place and event for AGM meeting :-)
