I just got that one in the mail. The vocals are VERY Arcturus-like, but the music is original.

Post Professor Fate - Mick Kenney's ambient downtempo project
Anyone here heard of Professor Fate? This is the latest project by Mick Kenney, the guy behind Anaal Nathrakh, Frost, Exploder, Mistress, etc.

It's actually a mix of downtempo trip-hop and orchestral music with Garm (yes, Trickster G hisself!) guesting on vox for a song or two. Very different music considering who's behind it.

Check out their Myspace page for samples.

Post Ayin Aleph
Okay, here's a good one:

Imagine if Nina Hagen was the new singer for Nightwish, and convinced them to add bizarre and sometimes bloody cabaret and baroque theater to the mix.

The band is called Ayin Aleph, from France. Here's a few links to them.

Their vocalist (whom the band is named after) is insane! Gorgeous, but willing to cover herself in blood and guts in their promo pics an videos.

Just check out this band.

Ayin Aleph: Wicked vocalist, reminds me of Atrox but less annoying... and a bit of Kate Bush. Music didn't do much for me though. Some great promo shots too, from the videos... more gore. nice....

Well if we get in to composers... Erik Satie (for those in the unknowing: Magic Logic's piano stuff for Dödheimsgard '97-'99 was inspired by him, to say the least, especially his Gnosiennes [sic]). Dmitry Shostakovich (english spelling). Alfred Schnittke - sampled by Deathspell Omega and Ondskapt, to mention a few - you need to hear his Requiem before you die (or at your funeral). Uhm... and everyone should listen to Debussy's "Nuages". Now my mind runs blank but there are some thousands of them composers worth listening to.

Yes! Schönberg's take on Pierrot Lunaire is thrilling in many ways! Tangerine Dream, and Kraftwerk! And why not some Györgi Ligeti & Chrystof Penderecki (very very unsure about spelling on the latter) while we're on it.

Post Pitbulls in the Nursery
I just discovered a technical-progressive death metal band from France (?) called "Pitbulls in the Nursery"

They're sort of a combination of Cryptopsy, Cynic and Demilich, with the odd industrial background here and there. Very technical-math-y, but also very head-bangingly groovy.
